Children & Young People's pilot in Walsall

Walsall New Deal For Communities is working with 4 primary schools, with children aged 6-10 years and the school's councils to enable the children to collectively decide how to spend £15,000.

Overview:

The project will involve children from the age of 6 to 10. Community Development staff from Walsall NDC will be working with school councils within the primary schools to collectively come to a decision on how to spend £15,000. The money will be spent in ways linked to Every Child Matters outcomes. The children will be free to decide how to split the money amongst their schools, perhaps put it towards joint activities during the school holidays,. It all depends on the ideas from the children

•Interactive activities to understand the process of decision-making and impact on community

•Emphasis on working with peers

•Children to be working as one group

•Focus on citizenship and strong communities
