The Government has now published its White Paper on Community Empowerment, 'Communities in Control'. The Paper offers a framework for revitalising local democracy and enhancing active participation in your community and forms the blueprint for legislation which will fundamentally affect the way your council works with its residents.

We are hosting a one day national conference at the prestigious Midland Hotel in Manchester to showcase PB and look at how we can take PB to the next level.

With a detailed look at pioneering community-led projects and future policy, get a firm understanding of the opportunities, risks and potential for empowerment. And how it can be driven forward successfully in your area.

The round table discussion will focus on questions whether the Internet is likely to increase the quality and the acceptance of participatory budgeting and what are the specific strengths and weaknesses of eParticipation solutions in this domain.

This one day event follows on from the success of the North East and West Midlands regional participatory budgeting seminars. The seminar is hosted by the PB Unit in conjunction with Government Office London and the London empowerment consortia.
