The PBU in partnership with North West Together We Can and Government Office North West are holding a PB seminar in the region.

The PB Unit is running a workshop at the NMN conference with the PB pilot in Lancaster.

Trafford Hall is running it's second series of PB training courses for community groups and residents.

We are providing a presentation on PB at the NALC national conference in Eastbourne on 21st May.

The National Neighbourhood Management Network is having a 1 day seminar on participatory budgeting for it's members (predominantly neighbourhood managers). The PB Unit will be providing the seminar with support from PB pilots in neighbourhood management areas.

There is widespread excitement nationally about Participatory Budgeting, it involves the public in budget setting; it can engage groups not normally involved in decision-making; it enables complex issues (such as area based grants) to be addressed simply. Attend this seminar to learn how Participatory Budgeting works, hear from national experts from the Governments new Participatory Budgeting Unit as well as practitioners who have used the technique in a variety of settings. This seminar will provide you with tools which you can apply locally.

In its 8th year, the Annual Resident Involvement Conference will provide delegates with the chance to examine tools to help you engage with your communities, and think about the government proposals that will influence you in doing this. It will provide the opportunity to discuss the direction of future policy, and explore what the National Tenants Voice and Oftenant might mean for the sector.

The LGIU is hosting a series of practical seminars on participatory budgeting which the unit is running for them. It's open to any of their members.

We are holding the second of our regional seminars in the West Midlands in association with Government Office West Midlands and the Regional Empowerment Consortium. Regional seminars are the perfect opportunity for all interested in PB to find out more about PB and what's going on in your area, whether that's local government officers, councillors, local residents, other statutory agencies or community groups.

The Paper offers a framework for revitalising local democracy and enhancing active participation in your community and forms the blueprint for legislation which will fundamentally affect the way your council works with its residents.

We are hosting a one day national conference at the prestigious Midland Hotel in Manchester to showcase PB and look at how we can take PB to the next level.

The round table discussion will focus on questions whether the Internet is likely to increase the quality and the acceptance of participatory budgeting and what are the specific strengths and weaknesses of eParticipation solutions in this domain.
