Community councils in Wales pilot PB

Tremeirchion Community Council in North Wales are holding a decision day on 8th December to allocate funds on the themes of Clean, Green, Safe and Sense of Community

Residents in Tremeirchion and Rhuallt have the opportunity to allocate £8,000 of public sector funds around themes of Clean, Safe, Green and Sense of Community - which will be spent in their areas.

The first events are on 22nd and 24th November - to explain what PB is, and what the process is, and to ask residents and community groups to submit projects for the funding.  These are projects which the community council or other service providers in the area will do, rather than funding community and voluntary projects.

The council will hear everyone's ideas for projects, go away and work out costs and if they're feasible, and then residents get to decide which projects to fund on 8th December.

Other community councils are also planning PB events in January 2009.

For more information contact the PB co-ordinator at Together Creating Communities - Bill Ellis-Jones on bill@tcc-wales.org.uk.  TCC are the PBU's partner in Wales - promoting and implementing PB.
