Date for national Participatory Budgeting conference announced
The date for the national PB conference has been announced as 15th September 2008. The conference will be held in the prestigious Midland Hotel in Manchester with a keynote speach from Rt. Hon. Hazel Blears MP; a staunch champion of participatory budgeting.
We are holding a national conference for PB on 15th September at the prestigious Midland Hotel in Manchester to showcase PB successes so far and to explore how PB can be developed as a powerful tool to engage people in making decisions on a range of different public budgets from pooled Local Strategic Partnership budgets to looking at using PB to help integrate neighbourhood policing with neighbourhood management to how PB fits with the health agenda.
Our keynote speaker is the Rt. Hon. Hazel Blears MP, a key champion of participatory budgeting or 'community kitties'. Ms Blears has worked hard to put PB at the forefront of the empowerment agenda through it's inclusion in the forthcoming Empowerment White Paper and the recently
produced draft national strategy for PB.
We are offering a generous discount of £50 per delegate if you book your places before 31st July. Prices are £200 for private and public sectors and £100 for third sector organisations, however with the £50 discount these are reduced to £150 and £50 respectively - so get booking now!
More information on the agenda and speakers will be produced shortly but in the meantime you can find out more on our website or by emailing mail@participatorybudgeting.org.uk.
