PB Unit deliver to a packed out West Midlands seminar

Over 70 delegates attended the PB Unit's West Midland's regional seminar on PB in conjunction with Government Office West Midlands (GOWM) and Regional Action West Midlands (RAWM). The event was very popular with people attending from all over the West Midlands, and some from further afield.

The morning sessions covered all the background to participatory budgeting and consisted of presentations with question and answer sessions.  There was also a very informative presentation from Walsall New Deal For Communities who have recently implemented a PB process, and the third sector perspective on empowerment from RAWM.

The afternoon, however, was where delegates were made to work for their free places, by getting involved in a number of interactive activities which aimed to get across the excitement and practical side to PB, as well as thinking about some of the risks and challenges delegates might face when they try to implement a PB process of their own in their local area.

Overall, feedback was very positive, and as a result of the seminar, it was decided to set up a regional learning set over the next few months to capture and share learning within the region between practitioners and those wanting to implement PB.
