Twitter for empowerment!

Communities and Local Government have set up a twitter channel to let people know what they're doing about empowerment and for people to twitter themselves.

Twittering is a bit like a cross between blogging and social networking but less structured (if that's possible!).  It was created by some people in San Francisco in 2006 as a way of staying in touch and letting people know what you're doing  as you're doing it.  You can twitter from your email or your phone and it sends updates to all your friends, family and colleagues.  You can stay in touch wherever, whenever and you only have to send the one text or message and it'll text all your friends and update your twitter page.  People can turn on or off the text alerts and they don't cost to receive them (except some service plans charge to receive texts outside of your normal country location).

So Hazel Blears and co are now twittering at us, letting everyone know what they are doing as they are doing their bit for empowerment!

Go to their twitter channel to check it out and sign up to receive alerts.  Set up your own channel and twitter at all your friends.
