360 degree PB programme - joining up online and offline

We are developing a programme which combines the use of the Izwe online platform with more traditional models of participatory budgeting, to gain the benefits of both.

We are looking for local authorities and other local public sector agencies who would be interesting in developing this kind of approach.

We want to work with some authorities to design and deliver an integrated process that enables participatory budgeting principles to be applied to strategic level budgets. It will build on and strengthen existing engagement mechanisms and create a lasting community of budget literate and empowered citizens able to take increasing responsibility for budget allocation and priority setting. The community would be built through face-to-face deliberative meetings integrated with new technologies, including a social networking, web platform.
The programme will be bespoke to individual partner requirements and requires a strong commitment to accountability and transparency between the authority and the public.

We are requesting expressions of interest, with a view to launching the programme and providing training early in the new year.

Izwe are a social enterprise, set up to address needs around involving people meaningfully in decisions through an online format.
