The Network have launched "Your Local Budget" a project to pioneer new models of PB.

The focus of the project is on mainstreaming PB with core service budgets for core services.  There are three different approaches they're considering:

  • Mainstream local spending prioritisation: Working with a percentage of their overall budget, allowing the public a direct say in how resources are allocated across the services.

  • Neighbourhood level budgeting: Working on area-specific spending priorities.

  • Service level budgeting: Exploring service design and commissioning in greater detail.

They are looking for 8-10 local areas keen to extend their existing PB activities into these kinds of approaches.  The full call to action can be downloaded here.

Those of you who are interested should contact Emily Fennell at the Big Society Network by  The deadline for expressions of interest is 18th October.

If you would like to have a chat with us before expressing an interest, please do feel free to get in touch.  We are working with the Network on this project and will be supporting the pilot areas.
