Paul will be speaking about how PB enhances and brings to life the Big Society agenda and what the Networks plans are for PB.  Paul completes our impressive line-up of speakers at what is going to be the PB event of the year. 

The one-day conference will be held at the Methodist Central Hall in Westminster, London with views over the houses of parliament and Westminster Abbey.  We currently have an early bird discount rate of up to £75 off the full price available for bookings up to 15th October - so get booking before it expires!

In addition to Paul Twivy; Professor Gerry Stoker, leading researcher and lecturer on participation at Southampton University will be talking about how PB supports and enhances representative democracy.  Lord John Shipley, former Leader of Newcastle City Council one of the country's pioneering councils for PB, will be talking about the role of elected members in involving people in making decisions about their areas. 

We are also pleased to announce that Sergio Baierle, one of the original founders of PB in the world - from Porto Alegre, Brazil - will speak about international PB experiences and how PB has evolved over 20 years in Porto Alegre. 

Ed Cox, Director of IPPR North will be chairing the entire conference.  Ed was one of the original people to bring PB to the UK 10 years ago and has been a staunch supporter ever since.  Professor Jonathan Tritter, leading academic and lecturer on patient and public involvement in health, from Warwick University, will be talking about how PB can take patient involvement to the next level in the health sector. 

In addition to our speakers we also have a number of practitioner panellists to share their experiences of PB 'on the ground' including Shazia Hussain from Tower Hamlets, Ali Lamb from Newcastle, Lynda Wilcox from Hereford, Rob Gregory from Great Yarmouth and Jamie Buckley from East Devon.
